What is ERIDA?

ERIDA (Efficient Refugee Integration through Data Analytics) is an AI-supported digital integration infrastructure for the efficient integration of refugees, initiated by Verein Innovation und Soziales. ERIDA connects, according to need, the capacities of cantonal and federal authorities, the requirements of employers, and the services of integration institutions including social services with the potential of refugees — within a structured digital environment. ERIDA is the association’s flagship project and Switzerland’s first AI-supported digital integration infrastructure. The platform is a web-based application for use in a public-authority context, its area served is Switzerland, and it is available at erida.digital.

What problem does ERIDA address?

ERIDA addresses a structural gap in the Swiss integration system: the fragmentation of services, data, and decision-making processes between actors who pursue the same goal but rarely act in a coordinated way. ERIDA brings authorities, integration institutions, employers, and refugees together in a shared digital environment: the platform reduces the administrative burden of case management, enables evidence-based service delivery, and gives authorities privacy-compliant real-time analytics.

How does ERIDA work?

Technically, ERIDA is built on a scalable multi-agent AI architecture with data-driven analytics. Its design is modular: cantonal particularities can be accommodated (federalism compatibility), and the platform can be expanded gradually across cantons and sectors.

Where does the project stand today?

• Pilot phase — pilot project initiated with the Canton of Bern, supported by a signed Letter of Intent; discussions with additional Swiss cantons are ongoing.
• Research — formal research partnership with the University of Bern; further academic collaborations are under discussion.
• Validation — supported by an InnoCheque from Innosuisse for early-stage validation and technical testing of the core components.
• MVP testing — the first functional module is in MVP testing with people with a migrant background in Switzerland, independent of cantonal implementation.

Who does ERIDA serve?

• Refugees and migrants — navigating complex residence statuses, language barriers, and administrative systems that were never designed for them.
• NGOs and integration institutions — by reducing the operational burden of case management, enabling evidence-based service delivery, and amplifying the impact of frontline professionals.
• Cantonal and federal authorities — with privacy-compliant real-time analytics that turn reporting data into actionable insight for policy-making.

How does ERIDA handle data and AI?

All data processed in ERIDA is hosted exclusively on Swiss cloud infrastructure and is fully compliant with the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP) and the relevant cantonal provisions. Privacy-by-design is built into development. The use of AI follows the association’s working objective for responsible digital technology: human-centred, ethical standards, transparency, and digital sovereignty.

How is ERIDA related to the association — and is ERIDA a government project?

Verein Innovation und Soziales initiated ERIDA and is its parent organisation and publisher; the platform is run as a separate product at erida.digital.

ERIDA is not a government project: the association works closely with authorities such as the Canton of Bern but is an independent, non-profit organisation.
